The College Library is a magnificent and a very popular place for students to work. It is housed in All Saints Church, an extremely beautiful Eighteenth-Century building which was formerly used as the City Church and was opened as a library in October 1975.
The Library has been an important part of College life since the foundation in 1427 and it continues to support the academic study of College members today. The modern collection is superbly stocked and it is kept up to date with regular purchases. We aim to support Undergraduate-level study in all the principal subjects studied by Lincoln College Undergraduates. Postgraduates may find some books suitable for their research or taught courses in the College Library, but normally it is expected that those needing access to more specialised books will use the main University libraries. Non-members of the College may make an appointment to consult individual items.
The Senior Library houses the early printed books and historic collections of the College. Particular strengths are: English plays of the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries, Hebrew books, Civil War pamphlets and works connected with John Wesley and Methodism. We are in the early stages of cataloguing the historic collection on SOLO.
To learn more about the cataloguing project and follow our progress please go to the Recently Catalogued page. To find out more about the special collections, refer to the Senior Library pages. To arrange to consult an item in the historic collections, please refer to the Visitors to the Library pages. If you are interested in current research on items in the collection, please see our new blog, The Press http://lincolncollegeseniorlibrary.wordpress.com/
There are 85 reading desks each offering access to the internet from readers' laptops and four computer terminals offering connection to library catalogues, electronic library resources, email and the internet.
The Library serves as a beautiful and peaceful backdrop to inspire your studies.
