Weddings

The College Chapel is a beautiful place to get married – and somewhere that is close to the heart of many members of the Lincoln community.

You can marry in the Chapel if you or your partner is either:

  •  A current student, Fellow, or member of staff
  •  A former student (old member) or a former Fellow

All marriages performed in Chapel are conducted by a Special Licence which is granted at the discretion of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Chaplain can offer guidance on the license application. There must be an existing or continuous relationship with the College to qualify for a license. Couples often come to Chapel services in the run-up to their wedding.

The capacity of the Chapel is 80 people. Unfortunately, we are unable to host wedding receptions in College.

Please direct enquiries to the Chaplain, Rev Dr Andy Shamel.

Blessings

We are very happy to offer blessings in Chapel for civil marriages/partnerships that have taken place elsewhere. No license is needed. Current students, Fellows, staff, and alumni are all eligible.

The Chaplain can help with arrangements, so please get in touch with him for more details.

Baptisms

If you are a current member of College and are interested in being baptised and/or confirmed in Chapel, please talk to the Chaplain - he will be delighted to discuss this with you further.

Similarly, if you are a current member of staff or Fellow and would like to explore the possibility of having your child christened, please contact the Chaplain. Please be aware that the life of the College Chapel is designed for staff and students to worship together as a community. Its pattern of services and activities are not suitable for young children. For this reason, those wishing to have their child baptised here will need to have other arrangements in place for regular worship in a parish church or similar.
