Keith Murray Senior Scholarships
This major award for Overseas graduates is usually made every two years. The Keith Murray Graduate Scholarships were founded in 1983 by friends of Lord Murray, Rector of Lincoln College from 1944-1953 and subsequently Chairman of the University Grants Committee, to honour his achievements and to commemorate his eightieth birthday. They are open to graduates from outside the United Kingdom.
From 2010 the Keith Murray Award Fund and the Clarendon Award Fund of the University of Oxford will collaborate to make possible the award of one fully-funded scholarship, in any subject area, to a student from outside the EU.
Non-UK EU citizens may also apply. In the case that the successful candidate is is an EU citizen, the Keith Murray Award Fund will bear the cost of the scholarship alone, but cannot guarantee a full-funded award.
Applicants should have attained a very high standard in their academic
work and be intending to embark upon a course of postgraduate study
leading to an advanced degree at the University of Oxford. Whilst intellectual achievement and promise will be a determining factor, the Keith Murray Award Committee is looking for those additional qualities which represent the wider aspects of the life of the College and the University. The Committee will require evidence of extra-mural activities and/or interests, as well as a capacity to participate in and contribute to the life of the College in general.
The Keith Murray Clarendon Award will cover all University and College tuition fees, and provide a generous personal maintenance grant . Murray Scholars will be guaranteed accommodation for one year (at the usual College rent) either in Bear Lane or in the New EPA Science Centre building, both of which are graduate centres, close to the College and to the centre of the city.
This Scholarship can only be held at Lincoln College.
Application Process: Application for 2010 will open on 1st September 2009 and close on 9th January 2010.
