Lincoln to participate in Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is an international day of giving back, whether it’s financially or by volunteering your time.

The College raised over £50,000 from alumni during 2017’s Giving Tuesday. Thanks to the support from alumni and friends we were able to give 16 students hardship awards.

This year Giving Tuesday will take place on 27 November 2018. Two alumni were inspired by the impact of last year’s efforts and have come together to create a matching gift challenge. They will give £10,000 if we can raise £10,000 in one week. We will only receive the funding if we reach £10,000 so your gift is more important than ever.

Gifts will support Lincoln students by creating small hardship awards for undergraduates who have unexpected financial needs and by establishing a scholarship to fully fund a student from the EU taking an MSt in the Humanities Division. The University is currently matching gifts for graduate scholarships on a 60/40 basis. This means that if we reach our target your gift will actually be tripled! You can make a gift today by clicking here.

As part of Giving Tuesday, we will also be highlighting our students, Fellows, staff, and alumni who give back to the community. The MCR, for example, will be baking cookies to raise money for Turl Street Homeless Action (TSHA). If you know of a Lincolnite who is making a difference and think they should be featured, please contact Julia Uwins or share your stories on social media using the hashtag #Lincolnitesgive back.
