Lincoln College is delighted to announce funding for a new Graduate Scholarship Scheme, which will run from 2018 to 2023. The new Kingsgate Graduate Scholarships, funded through the generosity of a Lincoln College alumnus, are available to up to ten students per year wishing to read for a DPhil at the University of Oxford, with matched funding enabling each award to cover both fees and living expenses.

‘In our Strategic Plan for 2017–22, raising funds for graduate students is one of the College’s priorities. We are delighted that with Kingsgate’s latest and very generous donation, we are to now be able to offer these awards to graduates as well as to undergraduates’, said the Rector, Professor H.R. Woudhuysen. ‘The College is, as always, most grateful to our donors for their support of our students.’

The first Kingsgate Graduate Scholarships were awarded this year. One of the recipients, Nupur Patel, who is completing a DPhil in Modern Languages, said ‘Coming from a low-income household I was previously worried that my background would hinder me. However, these scholarships have given me the opportunity to move beyond such personal constraints. They have encouraged me to achieve goals that I would have initially deemed impossible, and have motivated me to continue aspiring for bigger and better things. I will be forever grateful for this.’

Lincoln College is committed to supporting students undertaking graduate research. Since its launch in 2014, the Road to 2027 Campaign has successfully raised more than £4m in cash and pledges to support graduate research, and there are a record number of graduate scholarships available. This year a total of 83 awards were made to graduate students at Lincoln. Other new scholarships funded by alumni include four Elman Poole Scholarships, as well as the Peter J. Barack-David Goldey-Marshall Scholarship in Politics.

Lincoln College has a long-standing connection to the graduate community and was the first college in Oxford to have an MCR. The 60th anniversary of the Lincoln MCR will be celebrated in March 2019.
