Academic Preparation

Studying at Oxford

It is important to spend some time over the summer vacation preparing for your first term. Familiarise yourself with the tutorial system and what will be expected of you by reading these Notes for Freshers. Remember you will be repsonsible for your own workload and time management: make sure you have a diary (paper or electronic) and use it from the outset.

Subject Specific Preparation

Reading lists and/or vacation exercises have been, or will shortly be, sent out for the following subjects: Biochemistry, Chemistry, CAAH, Engineering, English, History and Joint Schools, History of Art, Law, Mathematics, Modern Languages, PPE and Physics.  You may also receive information from your faculty or department.

Please make sure that you allow enough time to complete the work/reading set. You definitely will not have time to finish it in Freshers Week. The more you do before you arrive, the better prepared you will be.

Book Grants

If you buy any books from your reading lists please save the receipts, as  Lincoln has a Book Grant Scheme that will refund 50% of the cost (up to £100)
