Undergraduate Accommodation

As an undergraduate at Lincoln, you’ll have accommodation in the centre of Oxford for the duration of your course. All rooms contain a bed, a desk, a desk chair, and a wardrobe. There may also be additional storage space or furniture where space allows.

Where will my accommodation be?

Our undergraduate accommodation is central, so you’ll only ever be a short walk from the main College site. This is perfect for attending tutorials, dining in College, studying in the Library, or spending time in the Junior Common Room. You’ll also be close to all of the shops, cafés, and restaurants that Oxford has to offer.

All first-year undergraduates are required to live in College and will have accommodation in Main College, or across the road on Turl Street. All of our first-year rooms have en-suite bathrooms.

In subsequent years, you will be housed in either the newly renovated Mitre, Bear Lane, or Museum Road (10 minutes’ walk).

After your first year, your room will be allocated through a housing ballot, run by current students.

What accommodation is available?

The exact rooms available vary from year to year depending on the size of year groups and various other factors, but generally speaking available undergraduate accommodation consists of the following:

  • First year: 100 en-suite rooms on our Main Site and Turl Street
  • Second year: 10 rooms with shared bathrooms and 56 en-suite rooms in our Mitre accommodation and further rooms with shared bathrooms at our Bear Lane site, depending on demand
  • Third year: c. 67 en-suite rooms with shared kitchens at our Museum Road site and c. 30 rooms with shared bathrooms and kitchens at our Bear Lane site
  • Fourth year: please see Graduate Accommodation

How much will it cost?

We try to keep accommodation costs reasonable, and you’ll only pay rent during term time (unless you have applied to stay in your room over the vacation period or are on a 37 week contract).

Members of the same year group pay the same price, regardless of the room, and a housing ballot ensures fairness.

There are two types of accommodation plans, ‘In College’ and ‘Out of College’. The ‘In College’ plan allows for just over 25 weeks in residence (i.e. three full terms plus a few days on either side).  Most undergraduates will be on this plan. Students living in Museum Road and Bear Lane houses are on the ‘Out of College’ plan, which allows for 37 weeks in residence (i.e. three full terms plus Christmas and Easter vacations).

First-year accommodation for 2023-24 on the ‘In College’ plan is £29.40 per night, which works out at around £1744.40 per term.

The College is so beautiful and I had an absolutely incredible room in my first year overlooking the College Chapel and Turl Street.
