Applications currently open to Year 12 students studying at a state school or college in the North East to participate in a free Oxford University Open Day residential trip (2nd - 4th July 2019)
Lincoln, St Anne's and Trinity colleges will be running a residential trip alongside our University Open Days in July. This fully funded opportunity is to enable state school students from the North East to visit, experience and gain application advice and support, whilst staying in an Oxford college free of charge. The trip will run from the 2nd-4th July 2019.
Year 12 students from state schools in the North East can apply for a place on the residential by completing this online form.
Year 12 students will travel to and from Oxford together by coach. There will be two coach pick-up points in central Newcastle and Darlington. Participants will stay for two nights in college accommodation and have all meals catered for in the college dining halls. We will run sessions on Oxford applications and how to make the most of the Open Day, as well as offering Q&A and discussion sessions with undergraduates. There will also be plenty of opportunities to speak to students more informally while travelling on the coach, at meal times and during undergraduate-led social activities in the evenings.
Should this event be oversubscribed, we will prioritise places based on GCSE attainment and predicted A Level grades in the context of widening participation factors.
We are also offering teachers from the North East the opportunity to participate in a Teachers' Conference in Oxford (2nd – 4th July 2019)
This event is open to teachers from North East state schools who have responsibility for, or a role in, the UCAS application process and/or supporting candidates to make an application to Oxbridge or other selective universities. Free coach transport, accommodation and meals will be provided.
Sessions will address the Oxford application process, what makes a competitive application, the personal statement, the teacher reference and useful enrichment activities, alongside Q&A sessions. Where possible, teachers will also attend events in their subject department during the Open Day and have opportunities to attend mock interview sessions.
If you would like to sign up to this event, please complete this online form.
Should this event be oversubscribed, priority will be given to teachers from schools with low progression to HE/Oxbridge.
If you have any questions about either of these opportunities, please contact our Schools Liaison Officer, Katie Osmon via firstname.lastname@example.org.
